Most species have brains that are involved in thought, emotion, desire, action, choice, memories, and sensory processing. Other parts of the nervous system are also believed to do some basic pre-processing, and even if this is true the brain does the vast majority of the thinking.

Some people believe that the mind is not totally reducible to the brain. While some philosophers have been known to explore this idea, neurologists typically don't accept this unscientific belief because it's unnecessary to explain the function of the mind.
