A Prophet is a man who has a special relationship with a divine being. A woman with a similar relationship is called a prophetess. A prophet/prophetess speaks for the divinity who inspires him/her, prophets usually predict the future and often perform miracles in the opinion of believers.

  1. When modern people claim prophetic relationships the general public is rightly skeptical and demands evidence for any special powers.
  2. Sadly when supposed prophetic power is based on Mythology of the Bronze Age and the Iron Age this type of faith is too often accepted by otherwise sensible people.

What a prophet/prophetess predicts is a prophecy.
